Description of the Country Home
|
The previous owners of the ranch are part of the second family to own the ranch from the homestead day. The father of the owner purchased the ranch 57 years ago. The ranch straddles the North Fork of the Musselshell River, which flows to the east and provides for excellent trout fishing all to yourself without any public accesses. Just a few miles to the West is the famous Smith River drainage and to the south are the headwaters of the Shields River, which flows south into the Yellowstone River.
The Smith River, the Musselshell River and Sixteen Mile Creek all flow into the Missouri River. The ranch has easy access to four different major fishing streams, all of which are the finest fishing in Montana. The property is bordered by the Lewis and Clark National Forest on its southern side in the Castle Mountains and ¼ mile north of the ranch is the Little Belt Mountains.
There is a forest service road right out of the ranch accessing the Little Belts, making it an excellent location for hunting, snowmobiling and four wheeling.
The new owners just completed an extensive remodel and ad on to the farm house. It is a classic farm house that was totally re-done. It is comprised of 1965 livable square feet. It has new hardwood floors, lots of tile treatments, three bedrooms and 2.5 baths. There is extensive tile in the showers and exceptional trim work and sold wood door. The entire exterior of the house was re-done and the house has kept the classic style of a western farm/ranch house. There is a totally restored barn on the property from the turn of the century, a 1500 square foot utility barn and there is a historic restored small cabin on the property. There is a trout pond that was put in right next to the house, utilizing many of the natural springs. There is also another utility barn for storing machinery and equipment.
