Just 16 miles south of Chinook is the historical battle of the Bears Paws where Chief Joeseph surrendered to the Calvary ending the Nez Perce Wars. The battlefield is now part of the National Park Service and open to visitors. This property was also rumored to be one of teh hideouts of Kid Curry, the infamous train robber. One of the neighbors as a boy found a rifle of Kid Curry in a hidden cave on this property. |
